If competing proposals recommend different sizes, ask each contractor to explain the assumptions behind the recommendation. Avoid choosing by the largest number or by copying an oversized existing system. A defensible design connects the home’s needs with equipment selection, airflow, and the comfort problems you want the installation to solve.
